Then Achilles meets Briseis, and Patroclus feels betrayed and angry because Briseis makes Achilles want to invade Troy even less. So, Patroclus decides to take matters into his own hands and go into battle while Achilles is with Briseis. He dies, and Achilles blames himself because he was paying attention to Briseis and not Patroclus. Eventually he realizes he has to move on and goes back to Briseis.
