Dezember 1955 fand die offizielle Einweihung der damals modernsten Schanze der Welt statt. Beim olympischen Sprunglauf sprang der Sieger Antti Hyvarinen (FIN) Bestweite mit 84 m. In den Jahren danach folgten viel nationale und internationale Sprungläufe. So fand hier 1979 das erste Weltcup-Skispringen statt. Die FIS-Zulassung für internationale Wettkämpfe hatte die Schanze nur bis 1990, danach gelang es dem italienischen Skiverband nicht, die Schanze umzubauen und seither stagniert der Sprungbetrieb. Noch heute gleicht die Anlage einem Amphitheater und der mächtige Stahlbetonanlaufturm, die Zuschauertraversen und Kampfrichtertürme zeugen von der damaligen technischen Bauleistung der Architekten Reinhard Straumann und Guglielmo Holzner aus Bolzano (Bozen) sowie Enzo Mantovi, Luciano Berti und Piero Pozzazi von der Ingenieurschule Bologna.
