The band consists of John Cooper (lead vocalist, bassist), his wife Korey Cooper (rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist), Ben Kasica (lead guitarist), and the newest member Jen Ledger (drummer, vocalist). Skillet has released eight albums, two receiving Grammy nominations: Collide and Comatose. Over the past 13 years, Skillet has spanned many different genres, including hard rock, industrial rock, and symphonic rock. As of late 2009 they have sold over a million albums Comatose Album Skillet's album Comatose was released on October 3, 2006. It features the singles "Rebirthing," "Whispers In the Dark," "Comatose," "The Older I Get," "Those Nights," and "The Last Night". Skillet's label also released a B-side ("Live Free or Let Me Die") as a single, off their follow-up album Comatose: Deluxe Edition, which includes five acoustic tracks. On September 15 of 2006 Skillet was the main event band at a Broome County church in New York. They played for a youth group opeaning called the Elevate Launch. they played with Decyfer Down, and the youth group band. In January 2008, Skillet announced that their drummer, Lori Peters, was retiring from the band, feeling that "it's time for her to come off of the road and start a new chapter in her life. Peters' last concert with Skillet was on December 31, 2007.However, during the 2007 Christmas season, she took the time to train Skillet's next drummer, Jen Ledger. On October 21, 2008, Comatose Comes Alive was released; a CD/DVD combo featuring live recordings of the band's May 9, 2008 concert in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was shown on the Gospel Music Channel on December 5, 2008. The Comatose album was certified Gold by the RIAA on November 18, 2009. Das "Durian Open Movie Project" wurde durch die Blender Foundation finanziert und dient der Weiterentwicklung und Erprobung freier Software, insbesondere der 3D-Grafik-Software "Blender". Die Premiere des Kurzfilms "Sintel" fand im September 2010 auf dem Niederländischen Filmfestival statt. "Sintel" wird außerdem auf der SIGGRAPH Asien 2010 zu sehen sein. Der Name des Films kommt vom niederländischem Wort "sintel" und bedeutet "Glut". Konzept des Films: Vorgaben an den Inhalt waren von Anfang an eine weibliche Hauptfigur und eine actionreiche, emotionale und epische Geschichte. Ziel war es, optisch mit Hollywood-Animationsfilmen mithalten zu können und eindrucksvolle Bilder in 4k-Auflösung und mit einem entsprechend hohem Detailgrad zu liefern. Damit sollte der Film mehr als die bisherigen Produktionen der Blender Foundation ein breites Publikum aus Jugendlichen und Heranwachsenden ansprechen. Primäre Ziele des Filmprojektes "Sintel" waren die Förderung der Software Blender durch die mit dem Film verbundene Öffentlichkeitswirkung, durch neue aus dem Projekt resultierende Lernmaterialien und durch eine technische Weiterentwicklung. Diese konzentrierte sich in erster Linie auf die folgenden Bereiche: • hochaufgelöstes Modellieren, Sculpten und Rendern • Simulation von Feuer, Rauch und Explosionen und Rendern der Ergebnisse als volumetrische Objekte • Compositing auflösungsunabhängig gestalten (Ziel: Nachbearbeitung von 4k-Renderings) • Massensimulationen • Bibliothekssystem zur Verwaltung größerer Projekte verbessern • Die Blender 2.5x Serie bereit zur produktiven Arbeit machen --- Alle Angaben ohne Gewähr.
