The ITN crew had filmed from inside a fenced-in storage area. By shooting through the fence ITN created footage that gave the impression that the Bosnian men were imprisoned. With a little editing, this footage was turned into pictures that gave the impression of a death camp - media manipulation (media's falsities and manipulations with fabricated images). Los goles ecuatorianos fueron obra del lateral izquierdo y capitán Walter Ayoví, al minuto 15, y del delantero Christian Benítez, al 28. Los de casa fueron ampliamente superiores, frente a una deslucida vinotinto que cedió el control del balón desde el inicio y mostró poco en ataque. Ecuador tuvo un mejor funcionamiento, contabilizando, antes del primer gol, cinco remates a portería de Benítez, el ariete Christian Suárez y el volante Luis Saritama. La recompensa a esa supremacía llegó a los 15 minutos de la mano de Ayoví, tras centro por derecha de la máxima estrella del equipo, Antonio Valencia. Benítez chocó su cabezazo en el vertical y Ayoví se lanzó en palomita para el 1-0. Otro centro del volante por derecha del Manchester United inglés dio origen al segundo gol.
