Sebaceous Cyst Surgery / Excision Steps A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac under the skin filled with a cheese-like or oily material. There are several sebaceous cysts treatment methods. Generally, the cysts are not painful and harmless; however, infected cysts can be extremely uncomfortable and may hinder the normal daily routine of an individual. The infected cysts may cause the temperature around the bumps to increase and may often appear ghastly and unpleasant. Apply a warm moist piece of cloth on the cyst three to four times a day for three days. At the end of three days, the cyst will rupture and drain out and heal itself. Alternatively, patients can use hot pads as another home sebaceous cysts treatment method.
