La serie si svolge subito dopo la guerra sacra contro Ade. Pegasus reduce da un durissimo scontro con Ade, il signore degli inferi, si trova in coma. Nonostante uscì vittorioso da quella battaglia il cavaliere lotta infatti ora fra la vita e la morte. In questo film (così come quelli che usciranno successivamente) è seguita la linea temporale che parte da Lost Canvas e prosegue con la serie classica. Non non sono tenuti in considerazione gli eventi di Next Dimension, che crea un'altra linea temporale rispetto a Lost Canvas, e dell'oav Le porte del Paradiso (Tenkai Hen) in quanto è uno spin off. Saint Seiya Rebirth è praticamente il seguito diretto dell'anime.
