The mission will deliver the final segment to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo laboratory and a new crew member to the International Space Station. Endeavour's 16-day mission includes five spacewalks and the installation of two platforms outside the Japanese module. One platform is permanent and will allow experiments to be directly exposed to space. The other is an experiment storage pallet that will be detached and returned with the shuttle. During the mission, Kibo's robotic arm will transfer three experiments from the pallet to the exposed platform. Future experiments also can be moved to the platform from the inside of the station using the laboratory's airlock. Shortly before liftoff, Commander Mark Polansky thanked the teams that helped make the launch possible. "Endeavour has patiently waited for this," said Polansky. [View \| Download]	NASA's Alien Anomalies caught on film - A compilation of stunning UFO footage from NASA's archives This compilation includes many of my favorite NASA UFO encounters/sightings that I have archived over the years. All of these examples (with the exception of the second-to-last one) were captured on film by NASA astronauts or Russian Cosmonauts over the past half-century - showing many amazing examples from different eras - Gemini, Apollo, Apollo/Soyuz Test Project, Skylab, STS, the ISS, plus a couple Russian-source additions from their unmanned Zond and Mir Space Station programs as well thrown in to round things out. The second last example is the only one in the compilation that features footage that was not taken in space and is not official-source (NASA or Soviet/Russian Space Agency). That clip shows an LTP (Lunar Transient Phenomenon) event captured through a camera connected to the eyepiece of a terrestrial-based telescope that luckily was being focused on the Moon at the time. In this case, the LTP manifests as an object transiting across the face of the lunar disc. Many thanks to amateur astronomer Alberto Mayer of Italy for doing a wonderful job of filming this stunning event (and for stacking the footage for us all to see). While the examples you will see here captured on film can all be "officially" classified as "unidentified" objects, that absolutely does NOT mean that NASA, the DoD, and certain elements within the scientific community worldwide are completely in the dark as to what these things you are seeing are. Make no mistake: The Powers That Be are indeed aware of far more about our mysterious Universe than they are ever willing to admit to us. We, the plebeian masses of this planet, are being held in a state of enforced ignorance, deemed not worthy of knowing the full truth by those who are REALLY "running the show" down here on Earth. As this video shows over and over again however, there are indeed snippets of that amazing truth that have been left scattered about the official government archives over the decades, there for us to find so we may begin to educate ourselves about what is the most monumental coverup in human history - where the only thing more incredible than the lies is the truth! That's when we pack our robotic emissaries off to the Red Planet, timing their launches to spend the least effort to get there. Some fly around it... snapping pictures... Others land ... to sample its surface.... ...a few to crawl around its canyons and craters. These probes may pave the way for human explorers... and, perhaps permanent settlers... who'll dig deeper still... in search of answers to our most pressing question: Did Mars develop far enough -- and stay that way long enough -- for life to arise? And, if so, does anything live now within Mars' dusty plains... beneath its ice caps... or maybe somewhere underground? Mars does not give up its secrets easily ... it's almost as if the little planet is embarrassed. Over a century ago, a few observers thought they saw clues that Mars is alive. In 1877, the Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli noted markings... which he saw as a latticework of lines. He called them "canali" in Italian... meaning nothing more than "shallow channels" in English. American astronomer, Percival Lowell, found the lure of these features irresistible. He saw Schiaparelli's channels as artificial canals. He speculated that they carried melting snow from the poles to the dry interior. After all, on Earth, the Suez Canal had recently opened to ship traffic. The Panama Canal was beginning to be dug. The Martian canals, Lowell said, were built by a sophisticated society confronting an environmental catastrophe on the grandest of scales. Those Martians, he thought, must face urgent choice: move water across vast arid regions, or perish on an increasingly dry planet. As the 19th Century gave way to the 20th, Lowell took his case to the public, in a series of three best-selling books. And the public responded with... questions. Who were these Martians, who had the means to remake an entire planet? Some offered schemes for making contact. Giant mirrors would flash greetings... Light beams... Mental telepathy. Many astronomers grew deeply skeptical... but Lowell's vision of a harsh, yet Earth-like planet endured in the public's imagination.. That vision was dealt harsh blow in 1964. The Mariner Four spacecraft ventured in for a closer look... And what it saw looked like the Moon. Three more Mariners followed. They found huge dormant volcanoes... the deepest and longest canyon in the solar system...but not a trace of life, present or past. In the mid-1970's, two lander-orbiter robot teams, named Viking, took up residence at Mars. Maybe the Martians were just hiding, so theVikings tested the soil for signs of life. But all the evidence from Viking told us... Mars is not only barren... but in fact hostile to life. It's no wonder. Martian air temperatures range from --20 degrees Fahrenheit to down below --200. It's also very, very dry. The Sahara Desert on Earth is a rainforest, by comparison. If all of the water vapor in Mars' thin atmosphere fell as snow, it would make a layer of frost not thicker than your fingernail. On Earth, impact craters erode over time from wind and water... and even volcanic activity. On Mars, they can linger for billions of years. But so can the imprint of riverbeds, lake bottoms and ocean shorelines... And the Viking orbiters saw a lot of them. It's not hard to believe that a great deal of water once flowed here. But where did all the water go? To find out, scientists needed to do real field-geology on Mars. They needed rovers... travelling robots with tools and instruments. [View \| Download]	Record Power Level For The VASIMR VX-200i, HD This is a record power level test firing in a series of experiments with the VASIMR VX-200 plasma rocket prototype. The rocket's 1st stage (a Helicon plasma source) was fired at 30 kW using a state-of-the-art solid state RF power supply, and the rocket's 2nd stage was fired at 149 kW using a second solid state RF power supply. Argon gas was used as the propellant, and gives a distinctive purple/blue/UV glow. The second half of the video is slowed down to 1/10 speed during the firing of the second stage. The plasma diagnostics that can be seen in this video are situated on an x-y motion stage capable of moving side to side 200cm and in an out 500cm with 0.5mm precision. Because of the extreme temperatures and heating within the plasma exhaust, the diagnostics are all constructed out of refractory metals, high temperature ceramics, or graphite (or all three). The rocket and everything else seen in this video is located within a vacuum chamber, used to simulate the vacuum environment of space. [View \| Download]	STS-127 Launch HD NASA'S SHUTTLE ENDEAVOUR LAUNCHES TO COMPLETE JAPANESE MODULE CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Space shuttle Endeavour and its seven-member crew launched at 6:03 p.m. EDT Wednesday from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission will deliver the final segment to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo laboratory and a new crew member to the International Space Station. Endeavour's 16-day mission includes five spacewalks and the installation of two platforms outside the Japanese module. One platform is permanent and will allow experiments to be directly exposed to space. The other is an experiment storage pallet that will be detached and returned with the shuttle. During the mission, Kibo's robotic arm will transfer three experiments from the pallet to the exposed platform. Future experiments also can be moved to the platform from the inside of the station using the laboratory's airlock. Shortly before liftoff, Commander Mark Polansky thanked the teams that helped make the launch possible. "Endeavour has patiently waited for this," said Polansky. [View \| Download]	NASA's Alien Anomalies caught on film - A compilation of stunning UFO footage from NASA's archives This compilation includes many of my favorite NASA UFO encounters/sightings that I have archived over the years. All of these examples (with the exception of the second-to-last one) were captured on film by NASA astronauts or Russian Cosmonauts over the past half-century - showing many amazing examples from different eras - Gemini, Apollo, Apollo/Soyuz Test Project, Skylab, STS, the ISS, plus a couple Russian-source additions from their unmanned Zond and Mir Space Station programs as well thrown in to round things out. The second last example is the only one in the compilation that features footage that was not taken in space and is not official-source (NASA or Soviet/Russian Space Agency). That clip shows an LTP (Lunar Transient Phenomenon) event captured through a camera connected to the eyepiece of a terrestrial-based telescope that luckily was being focused on the Moon at the time. In this case, the LTP manifests as an object transiting across the face of the lunar disc. Many thanks to amateur astronomer Alberto Mayer of Italy for doing a wonderful job of filming this stunning event (and for stacking the footage for us all to see). While the examples you will see here captured on film can all be "officially" classified as "unidentified" objects, that absolutely does NOT mean that NASA, the DoD, and certain elements within the scientific community worldwide are completely in the dark as to what these things you are seeing are. Make no mistake: The Powers That Be are indeed aware of far more about our mysterious Universe than they are ever willing to admit to us. We, the plebeian masses of this planet, are being held in a state of enforced ignorance, deemed not worthy of knowing the full truth by those who are REALLY "running the show" down here on Earth. As this video shows over and over again however, there are indeed snippets of that amazing truth that have been left scattered about the official government archives over the decades, there for us to find so we may begin to educate ourselves about what is the most monumental coverup in human history - where the only thing more incredible than the lies is the truth! [View \| Download]	The Asteroid that Flattened Mars Watch this and other space videos at http://SpaceRip.com Just about every two years, the planet Mars makes its closest approach to Earth... around 36 million miles. That's when we pack our robotic emissaries off to the Red Planet, timing their launches to spend the least effort to get there. Some fly around it... snapping pictures... Others land ... to sample its surface.... ...a few to crawl around its canyons and craters. These probes may pave the way for human explorers... and, perhaps permanent settlers... who'll dig deeper still... in search of answers to our most pressing question: Did Mars develop far enough -- and stay that way long enough -- for life to arise? And, if so, does anything live now within Mars' dusty plains... beneath its ice caps... or maybe somewhere underground? Mars does not give up its secrets easily ... it's almost as if the little planet is embarrassed. Over a century ago, a few observers thought they saw clues that Mars is alive. In 1877, the Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli noted markings... which he saw as a latticework of lines. He called them "canali" in Italian... meaning nothing more than "shallow channels" in English. American astronomer, Percival Lowell, found the lure of these features irresistible. He saw Schiaparelli's channels as artificial canals. He speculated that they carried melting snow from the poles to the dry interior. After all, on Earth, the Suez Canal had recently opened to ship traffic. The Panama Canal was beginning to be dug. The Martian canals, Lowell said, were built by a sophisticated society confronting an environmental catastrophe on the grandest of scales. Those Martians, he thought, must face urgent choice: move water across vast arid regions, or perish on an increasingly dry planet. As the 19th Century gave way to the 20th, Lowell took his case to the public, in a series of three best-selling books. And the public responded with... questions. Who were these Martians, who had the means to remake an entire planet? Some offered schemes for making contact. Giant mirrors would flash greetings... Light beams... Mental telepathy. Many astronomers grew deeply skeptical... but Lowell's vision of a harsh, yet Earth-like planet endured in the public's imagination.. That vision was dealt harsh blow in 1964. The Mariner Four spacecraft ventured in for a closer look... And what it saw looked like the Moon. Three more Mariners followed. They found huge dormant volcanoes... the deepest and longest canyon in the solar system...but not a trace of life, present or past. In the mid-1970's, two lander-orbiter robot teams, named Viking, took up residence at Mars. Maybe the Martians were just hiding, so theVikings tested the soil for signs of life. But all the evidence from Viking told us... Mars is not only barren... but in fact hostile to life. It's no wonder. Martian air temperatures range from --20 degrees Fahrenheit to down below --200. It's also very, very dry. The Sahara Desert on Earth is a rainforest, by comparison. If all of the water vapor in Mars' thin atmosphere fell as snow, it would make a layer of frost not thicker than your fingernail. On Earth, impact craters erode over time from wind and water... and even volcanic activity. On Mars, they can linger for billions of years. But so can the imprint of riverbeds, lake bottoms and ocean shorelines... And the Viking orbiters saw a lot of them. It's not hard to believe that a great deal of water once flowed here. But where did all the water go? To find out, scientists needed to do real field-geology on Mars. They needed rovers... travelling robots with tools and instruments. [View \| Download]	Record Power Level For The VASIMR VX-200i, HD This is a record power level test firing in a series of experiments with the VASIMR VX-200 plasma rocket prototype. The rocket's 1st stage (a Helicon plasma source) was fired at 30 kW using a state-of-the-art solid state RF power supply, and the rocket's 2nd stage was fired at 149 kW using a second solid state RF power supply. Argon gas was used as the propellant, and gives a distinctive purple/blue/UV glow. The second half of the video is slowed down to 1/10 speed during the firing of the second stage. The plasma diagnostics that can be seen in this video are situated on an x-y motion stage capable of moving side to side 200cm and in an out 500cm with 0.5mm precision. Because of the extreme temperatures and heating within the plasma exhaust, the diagnostics are all constructed out of refractory metals, high temperature ceramics, or graphite (or all three). The rocket and everything else seen in this video is located within a vacuum chamber, used to simulate the vacuum environment of space.
