Evolution IS a Blind Watchmaker

READ THIS In this video I deconstruct the broken watch straw man argument used by creationist / ID supporters to attack evolution. I had to pack a ton of information into this video so you WILL need to pause it periodically. The basic premise of the argument is that a bunch of parts will never randomly assemble into the correct arrangement to form a properly functioning complex. Once again, creationists / ID supporters miss the basic concept of evolution entirely. No biologists believes, nor is there any evidence that complex systems form spontaneously in one fell swoop. That would be creation. Systems evolve through many intermediates, one step at a time, slowly building up the complexity. Here I deconstruct their straw man argument. Basically, I simulate clocks as living organisms. Selective pressure is focused on their ability to accurately tell time. NO goal is imposed on the design (you can tell this because every simulation ends with a differently constructed clock). And it works. Clocks evolve through a series of transitional forms: Pendulum, Proto-clock, 1-handed Clock, 2-handed Clock, 3-handed Clock, and 4-handed Clock. Gradually the complexity is built up. These labels I have assigned to the transitional forms have nothing to do with the simulation itself. They are names I assigned so that we could analyze what the population was doing. The clocks are just clocks, living in their world, trying to tell time as accurately as possible. One thing I wanted to address but didn't have time in the video is how rapid the transitional period can be. In some simulations the population goes from pendulums to 3-handed Clocks in a hundred or so generations. And the transitions between the transitional forms are even more rapid, happening in about ten generations. Chances are none or a very limited representation of that transition will be preserved in the fossil record. One thing I should add. The program does not draw the clocks. It maintains, mates, and simulates them, but the drawing must be done manually from the genome matrix. The program is written in MatLab. The hand rotations that begin with 86 are 86,000 not 86.000. When YouTube compressed the video it becam hard to tell a comma from a period. The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs: T Rex vs Triceratops (BBC)

Please Subscribe To The Evolution Documentary YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/EvolutionDocumentary Broadcast (2005) In this innovative series, Bill Oddie takes great joy in comparing dinosaurs with their closest living relatives - crocodiles and birds. He joins forces with a team of experts to scientifically analyse fossilised dinosaur bones and tracks. Using scientific evidence, Bill constructs life-sized, bio-mechanical replicas of the dinosaurs' weaponry. Then he tests them and dramatically demonstrates their awesome potential. The findings from all these investigations are fed into the computer graphics to produce the most accurate portrayal of dinosaurs to date. Programme 1 Tyrannosaurus rex versus Triceratops has to be the greatest heavyweight fight in history. In one corner - T. rex - a six-ton powerhouse of muscle and teeth and the most famous killer the world has ever known. Its jaws were packed with over 50 teeth, each up to a foot long, and powerful enough to crush a car. In the opposite corner - Triceratops - an armoured and enormous opponent, equivalent to an elephant-sized rhino wearing a spiked helmet. A dramatic face-off such as this has long been imagined by artists and filmmakers, but until now it has been based on pure fantasy. In this programme, Bill Oddie employs some surprising and powerful techniques to unlock the truth, and he reveals extraordinary new fossil proof of a real-life conflict between these two monsters. To illustrate the destructive capabilities of the dinosaurs, Bill constructs life-sized, bio-mechanical replicas of a T. rex head, built from solid steel, and a Triceratops skull, complete with three horns. Then he puts them on trial in the most detailed analysis ever attempted. Programme 2 Velociraptor could be described as the scariest dinosaur in the world. Armed with huge disembowelling claws, as sharp as steak knives, it guts its prey with a single sweep of its powerful legs. At least, that's what seems to happen in Steven Spielberg's movies. But what are the facts? Continuing his quest to find out the truth, Bill Oddie tracks down the real raptor to find out if it had feathers. Not only did the two-legged flesh-eater look more like a bird than a lizard, but Velociraptor nailed its victims with a far deadlier strike than a slash to the stomach. Next Bill introduces a tank-like Ankylosaur, a dinosaur with the ultimate defences. With its armour-plated skin and vicious bone-crushing club, the stupidest dinosaur of all time might have been more than a match for a fleet-footed Velociraptor. Comparisons with living animals such as alligators and hawks provide Bill with clues as to how these two dinosaurs used their weaponry. Using this information, he constructs accurate working models of a Velociraptor leg, complete with its killer claw, as well as an Ankylosaur's fearsome tail club. And then he puts them to the test. The results dramatically demonstrate the devastating power of the dinosaurs and lead Bill Oddie to The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs.

The Origin of Life - Abiogenesis - Dr. Jack Szostak

This has been CONFIRMED in Dr. Jack Szostak's LAB. 2009 Nobel Laurette in medicine for his work on telomerase. It's been 55 years since the Miller-Urey Experiment, and science has made enormous progress on solving the origin of life. This video summarizes one of the best leading models. Yes there are others. Science may never know exactly how life DID start, but we will know many ways how life COULD start. Don't be fooled by creationist arguments as even a minimal understanding of biology and chemistry is enough to realize they have no clue what they are talking about. Note on how competition works. Water will flow across a membrane to try to equalize the ion concentration. If there is a lot of polymer in a vesicle it will be surrounded by many ions, thus causing water to flow into the vesicle, increasing the internal pressure and stretching the membrane. Fatty acids are in equilibrium between the vesicle and solution. If 2 vesicles are near one another they will gradually swap fatty acids. If one membrane is under tension, the fatty acid "on rate" will be greater than the "off rate" (move to a lower energy state by relaxing the pressure). It will suck up fatty acids from solution. The other vesicle will still give them off, but they will disappear (sucked up by neighbor) and not return. Therefore, the vesicle with high internal pressure will grow and the neighbor will shrink. David Attenborough's First Life Episode 1/2 Arrival (BBC)

Please Subscribe To The EvolutionDocumentary YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/EvolutionDocumentary Broadcast (2010) Attenborough's journey begins in a forest near his childhood home in Leicester, where a fossil discovery transformed our understanding of the evolution of complex life. Travelling to the fog bound coastline of Newfoundland and the Australian outback, Attenborough unearths the earliest forms of animal life to exist on Earth. These bizarre and wonderful creatures are brought to life with the help of cutting edge scientific technology and photorealistic visual effects. From the first animal forms that moved to the first mouths that ate, these were creatures that evolved the tools that allow all animals, including ourselves, to survive to this day. In fifty years of broadcasting, David Attenborough has travelled the globe to document the living world in all its wonder. Now, in a landmark series, he completes his journey by going back in time to the very roots of the tree of life, in search of the very first animals. From the fog bound coastline of Newfoundland to the deserts of North Africa and the rainforests of Queensland, Attenborough finds evidence in fossils and living animals of an extraordinary period in Earth's history, half a billion years ago, when animals first appeared in the oceans. From the first eyes that saw, to the first predators that killed and the first legs that walked on land, these were creatures that evolved the traits and tools that allow all animals, including us, to survive to this day. Stunning photography and state of the art visual effects combine with the captivating charm of the world's favourite naturalist. Bringing together fossil finds from the last few years that have transformed our understanding of early life forms with photorealistic CGI technology, First Life brings these animals and their environments back to life in brilliant detail. David goes back in time to the roots of the tree of life, in search for the first animals.
