Mumia Abu-Jamal -- The Puppet Makers! The Message Stupid! Ex-CIA officer Slams US Allegations against Iran as Sham US Creating False pretexts for Another War In an alarming exposure of the acceleration and urgency of the American war party's push towards catastrophic war with Iran, Philip Giraldi, former CIA counter terrorism officer, in an interview [1] on 24th July with Anti War Radio debunked the NeoCons' repeated myth of Iran's support for AlQaeda as a pretext for war. Whilst acknowledging Iran's helpfulness in trying to establish security in both Afghanistan and Iraq, Giraldi spoke of the United States' hypocritical and illegal support for terrorist separatists groups inside Iran, and various plans and scenarios which have been drawn up to destroy Iran's military and economic infrastructure by massive bombardment, with the use of nuclear bombs a real and stated possibility. Giraldi refuted the assumption that sharing hostilities towards the US, placed Iran and AlQaeda in the same camp and sharing similar agenda, arguing that Iran followed a very different agenda in its dealings with the US. He emphasised both the fact of Iranians' helpfulness in Iraq, in terms of pushing for greater stability, and also their help and cooperation in Afghanistan, as well as the reality of the deep hostilities between Shiia Iran and Sunni extremism of AlQaeda. Giraldi recalled the major attack against the Iranian consulate general in Afghanistan by the Taliban, a close ally of AlQaeda, in which 11 Iranian diplomats were killed, and the regular AlQaeda violent attacks against Shiia population in Iraq, and concluded that a Shiia Iranian-AlQaeda alliance was not a plausible possibility. http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=6434 The Cold War Between Washington and Tehran by Noam Chomsky In the Cold War-like mentality that prevails in Washington, Tehran is portrayed as the pinnacle in the so-called Shiite Crescent that stretches from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon, through Shiite southern Iraq and Syria. And again unsurprisingly, the "surge" in Iraq and escalation of threats and accusations against Iran is accompanied by grudging willingness to attend a conference of regional powers, with the agenda limited to Iraq—more narrowly, to attaining U.S. goals in Iraq. Presumably this minimal gesture toward diplomacy is intended to allay the growing fears and anger elicited by Washington's heightened aggressiveness, with forces deployed in position to attack Iran and regular provocations and threats. For the United States, the primary issue in the Middle East has been and remains effective control of its unparalleled energy resources. Access is a secondary matter. Once the oil is on the seas it goes anywhere. Control is understood to be an instrument of global dominance. http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?itemid=13388 Tags: 9/11, Bush, Coup, Empire, Imperialist, Iran, Iraq, Terrorism, Vietnam, War 1 Downloads - Last from: (Your Blog here!) |

Mumia Abu-Jamal -- Why Social Security's Fall is Near! Everybody wins -- except the workers. This war against workers, unless it is vigorously opposed by workers fighting in their own class interests, will result in nightmares where elderly must work until they drop dead. For, with no pensions, and no social security, how can it be otherwise? This business-friendly, labor-hating government is actually trying to set up a judicial, administrative, media regime that will undo the New Deal. After the Great Depression of 1929, mass movements, such as rent riots, sit-ins, marches, and great demonstrations, struck the country. One such movement was for pensions for those who spent their lives working in hard toil. Movements such as these in the 1930s changed things. Scholars Frances Fox Piven and (the late) Richard Cloward, noted, in *The New Class War: Reagan's Attack on the Welfare State and Its Consequences* (Pantheon Books: 1982/1985 [revised/expanded edition]), p. 118: "In other words, the movements changed reality; they transformed the State." Mumia Abu-Jamal -- What Globalization Really Means! During the hard-fought Haitian Revolution, which occurred roughly a decade after the U.S. Revolution, the government of George Washington, which talked about 'liberty to all men', entered the conflict, but not on the side of liberty. The Washington Administration authorized the grant of $400,000 — a vast sum in the 1800s — not to support the forces of freedom, but to the white planters. They sent money to the French for arms and food to support their resistance to the uprising. America's secretary of state, Thomas Jefferson, writer of the Constitution, did the actual paperwork. When it came to slavery or freedom, the Americans, slaveowners themselves, chose slavery to support. Mumia Abu-Jamal -- Of Cowboys And Kings! The Message Stupid! Killing Hope U.S. Military and CIA Interventions since World War II by William Blum "[American leaders] are perhaps not so much immoral as they are amoral. It's not that they take pleasure in causing so much death and suffering. It's that they just don't care ... the same that could be said about a sociopath. As long as the death and suffering advance the agenda of the empire, as long as the right people and the right corporations gain wealth and power and privilege and prestige, as long as the death and suffering aren't happening to them or people close to them ... then they just don't care about it happening to other people, including the American soldiers whom they throw into wars and who come home-the ones who make it back alive-with Agent Orange or Gulf War Syndrome eating away at their bodies. American leaders would not be in the positions they hold if they were bothered by such things." William Blum.
