Chinese Buddhist Evening Ceremony Amitabha Sutra 佛教 晚課 阿彌陀經1 The evening ceremony is the last of the two important ceremonies (morning & evening) in Buddhist monastic life. The evening ceremony on odd-numbered dates begins with recitation of the Amitabha Sutra, integrating the day's cultivations together while visualizing the splendors of Amitabha Buddha's Pure Land as the ultimate place of return. Here is the English translation of the Amitabha Sutra: http://www.drba.org/dharma/amitabhasutra.asp 1 Downloads - Last from: (Your Blog here!) |

Its Sanskrit name Prajñāpāramitā Hṛdaya literally translates to the "Heart of the Perfection of Transcendent Wisdom." Buddhist writer and translator Red Pine calls the Heart Sutra the best known and most popular of all Buddhist scriptures.Despite the common name "Heart Sutra", the word sutra is not present in known Sanskrit manuscripts. The Heart Sutra is a member of the Perfection of Wisdom (Prajñāpāramitā) class of Mahāyāna Buddhist literature, and along with the Diamond Sutra, is perhaps the most prominent representative of the genre.
