She describes her ordeal and suffering in the hands of a police commander, as she faced sexual humiliation, torture and the threat of being raped by the local police. The incident took place on 22 February 2009. The UN has a force in Western Sahara to carry out a referendum on independence, but Morocco refuse sto cooperate with the UN, and oppress those who work to have the referendum implemented.
