Olivia Newton-John - Physical By lagabru "Physical" is a 1981 song written by Steve Kipner and Terry Shaddick and performed by Olivia Newton-John. Recorded in early 1981, it first rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in America in November 1981 and stayed there for ten weeks, until the end of January 1982. In terms of chart placement, it was the most popular single of her career, as well as her final number-one (to date). Billboard ranked it as the number one pop single of 1982 (since the chart year for 1982 actually began in November of 1981), and it was also the most successful song on the Hot 100 during the entire decade of the 1980s. The single, slightly edgier than she had been known for in the past (such as her songs from Grease and her ballad "I Honestly Love You"), proved to be immensely popular both in America and in the United Kingdom, despite the fact that the song was censored and even banned by some radio stations, particularly Adult Contemporary stations; in spite of Newton-John's status as the reigning queen of soft-rock music at the time, "Physical" peaked at only number twenty-nine on the AC chart (its follow-up, the slightly softer-edged "Make a Move on Me," found more acceptance at AC radio and went to number six AC as well as number five pop.) The song was a big dance hit and spawned a music video. The revamped acoustic version of the song was released on the 2002 Olivia duet album as a bonus track. The video featured a lusty Olivia, dressed in a tight leotard, working out in a gym with several muscular young men who, despite her best efforts, continue to ignore her. The gym setting may have been partly an attempt to divert attention from the overt sexual connotations of the term "physical". This was further emphasised by the twist comedy ending of the video, when the men who had been oblivious to Newton-John's advances are ultimately revealed to be gay (this was also a source of controversy; MTV frequently cut the ending when it aired the video, and the sometimes sensuous nature of the video also led to it being banned outright by some broadcasters in Canada and the United Kingdom). The video won a Grammy Award for Video Of The Year in 1983. The song Physical was banned in South Africa for its suggestive lyrics. Like her first number-one single, "Physical" sold over two million copies, being certified platinum. Ricky Luís "Pinche Perro" By axxilas Ricky Luis, fue un cantante de Pop en Mexico, que aunque siempre se le incluyo en programas comerciales de la television mexicana, fue muy bien visto en paises como Peru, tal vez su propuesta era demasiado comercial para su tiempo, pero aun asi podemos decir que tenia algo de naturalidad e ingenio. En 1985, el subsello COMROCK de WEA (actualmente Warner AOL) apoyó a varios grupos de rock mexicanos, en una ola que llevó en su camino a El Tri, Ritmo Peligroso, Montana, Chac Mool, Guillermo Briseño, Betsy Pecanins y un chavo que salía un poco de los ritmos más conservadores como eran el blues, el progresivo y la fusión, al contrario de estos, Ricky Luis le apostó a un género que estaba entre la alternativa y la comercialidad, cosa que ahora es muy común, Ricky fue muy criticado y tachado de fresa (puesto que antes del boom del Rock en tu Idioma el rock pop era condenado por el público roquero, cuando roquero era también símbolo de marginalidad, rebeldía, anarquía y actitud contestataria), por que su música era más rítmica y sus letras más desmadrozas. 1985 fue el año en que salió su primer disco, homónimo, y que traería en sí el germen de un breve y entrañable éxito, pues, gracias a los temas: Tengo un Mes con el Mismo Pantalón, Caricaturas, Te pareces a tu mamá, Faltas a la Moral y La Gorda de la Esquina, Ricky se coronó a la fama por la genialidad y desenfado de las letras. El éxito fue tal que la casa disquera le pidió un segundo disco Dicen que estoy loco (1986); el nuevo disco no tuvo el mismo impacto que el primero, y las canciones aunque seguían por la misma línea del disco homónimo no generaron el mismo impacto, de este segundo disco se puede rescatar Solicito Sirvienta. Los coqueteos con Televisa se hicieron más cercanos gracias a los programas juveniles como Estrellas de los 80s, y aprovechando todavía el éxito del primer disco, se aventó un tercero Rock de la calle(1987) donde rompió cánones y volvió a llamar la atención de propios y extraños con temas como Pinche perro y Los Trajeados, pues en ese mismo año las disqueras comerciales aceptaron libremente que sus grupos dijeran palabrotas como Botellita de Jerez con Pinche Maliche (Guacarock de la Malinche), incluida en su álbum ¡Naco es Chido! (Polydor 1987). El auge del rock en español extranjero y el impulso a nuevos valores que se dio a partir de 1988 fue rezagando el trabajo de Ricardo Luis, quién todavía tuvo el apoyo de su disquera para un cuarto y último disco: El rey del anonimato (1990), quizás fue el titulo, quizás fue el querer aventarse un volado a la suerte, pero el disco pasó sin pena ni gloria. The band achieved its greatest success in the 1980s with its pop-rock sound, which garnered many charting singles, especially in the United States. The band is best known for its 1982 hit "Eye of the Tiger", the theme song for the motion picture Rocky III (US #1). Singles like "Burning Heart" (US #2), "The Search Is Over" (#4 US), "High on You" (#8 US) and "I Can't Hold Back (US #13) continued to chart in the mid-1980s. The band tweaked its musical direction in 1988 with the release of the slightly heavier Too Hot to Sleep, but due to changes in the music industry and shift of popularity towards bands like Mötley Crüe and Poison, the album barely reached the Billboard 200 in the United States. Because of this, the band split. Singer Jimi Jamison later toured as "Survivor" in the mid-1990s, to the chagrin of the rest of the band. Jamison re-united with the band's other members in 2000 and the band released Reach in 2006, but Jamison left the band after its release and was replaced by Robin McAuley. The band has continued to tour with McAuley into 2008. "Eye of the Tiger" is a song performed by the American rock group Survivor, and is taken from the album of the same name. It was released on January 1st, 1982, and was written at the request of Sylvester Stallone for the film Rocky III. The original mix of the song, heard in the film, features tiger growls, though the single omits them.
