A poca distancia, Jessie, sus amiga Carl y el novio de ésta, Scott, Evan, y su novia Francine, están parados en medio de la carretera, tratando de encontrar una forma de proseguir su viaje después de que un pinchazo les dejara tirados en lo más profundo del bosque. Chris avanza por la polvorienta y tortuosa carretera secundaria cuando al tomar una curva pierde el control del coche y embiste por detrás el coche de éstos. Por suerte, nadie resulta gravemente herido por el choque. En cualquier caso, el orgullo de los afectados es el que se ha llevado la peor parte, y el ambiente se caldea. Chris se disculpa y Jessie actúa de apaciguadora al descubrir un alambre de púas interceptando la carretera.
