Chief of the Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani laid a floral wreath at the site of Yadgar Shuhada (monument of martyrs). Speaking on the occasion, General Kayani paid rich tributes to officers and jawans of Pakistan Army who embraced shahadat (martyrdom) in the continuing war on terror. He said that Youm-e-Shuhada will be commemorated on April 30 every year. [View \| Download]	Pakistan Army Contingent stood first in internationally recognized military exercise Exercise Cambrian Patrol is a prestigious British Army exercise which is organized annually in United Kingdom in Wales. Apart from teams from British Army, teams from military establishments all over the world are also invited to participate. It is a three days exercise in which the teams, comprising eight members, are required to infiltrate into simulated enemy lines and perform multiple tasks including obstacle crossing, close target reconnaissance and exfiltrate successfully in real time environments. For Year - 2010, a total of 86 teams participated in the exercise, including 70 British and 16 teams from other countries of the world including USA, Canada, Germany, France and India etc. Rawalpindi Corps team represented Pakistan Army in Exercise Cambrian Patrol - 2010, held from 11-13 October 2010 and by the Grace of Allah, the team showed an excellent performance by winning a Gold Medal in the event, which is a big honour not only for Army but for the country as a whole. Team returned to Pakistan yesterday. Commander Rawalpindi Corps and Inspector General Training and Evaluation (IGT&E) appreciated the efforts of the team during meeting held with team members. The "Team Manager" conveyed the feelings of all participating teams and Command echelons of United Kingdom Army, who appreciated the training standards of Pakistan Army and termed it capable of accomplishing its mission in the most trying circumstances. The competition consists of teams of 8 men carrying up to 55 kilos each across some of the most unforgiving terrain. There have been account of teams trudging through bog land up to their waist for 4 hours only to cover 1.5 km. It's a test of leadership, self discipline, courage and determination. The exercise usually starts with teams arriving at a Rendezvous before having their equipment checked to make sure they have everything required. Missing equipment will be replaced by dead weight and will mean points will be deducted. From there the team leader will be taken to orders while the rest of the team set up a quick hide, start their battle prep and prepare to receive orders i.e. prepare a model of the ground which will be covered during the patrol. Mukesh Chand Mathur (Hindi: मुकेश चन्द माथुर) (22 July 1923 27 August 1976) was an Indian playback singer of Bollywood. Along with Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, he dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s. Mukesh's voice was noticed by Motilal (a popular actor in Hindi films, also a distant relative of Mukesh) when he sang at his sister's wedding. Motilal took him to Bombay, let him stay with him and even arranged for singing lessons by pandit jagannath prasad for him. During this period, Mukesh managed to bag a role in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (Innocent) (1941). His first song was dil hi bujha hua ho to as an actor singer for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback singer for Actor Motilal himself in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar'music by Anil Biswas & Lyrics by Aah Sitapuri' (First Look). The first song he sang for a Hindi film was Dil Jalta Hai to Jalne De (If the heart burns, let it burn), which was incidentally picturised on Motilal. Mukesh died of a heart attack on 27 August 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where he had gone for a concert. His body was carried back to India by Lata Mangeshkar, where a grand funeral ceremony took place as many famous actors, personalities of the Indian film industry, and fans paid tribute to the late singer. When the news of his death reached Raj Kapoor, he remarked, "I have lost my voice," which is a testimony to the timeless and unforgettable association of Mukesh's voice (in playback) to the immensely popular songs of Raj Kapoor's films. It was originally recorded by the Top Notes and then covered by The Isley Brothers. It was covered by The Beatles with John Lennon on the lead vocals and originally released on their first album Please Please Me. The recording session for that album was their first album session, and is notable for eleven songs having been recorded in a mere 10 hours (the remaining four songs had previously been released as singles and one song was not released). "Twist and Shout" was the last song recorded; producer George Martin knew John Lennon's voice would suffer from the performance, so he left it until last, with only 15 minutes of scheduled recording time remaining for the album. Lennon was suffering from a cold, and was drinking milk and sucking on cough drops to soothe his throat. His coughing is audible on the album, and the cold's effect on his voice is audible in this recording. Even so, he produced a memorable vocal performance, a raucous, dynamic rocker. He later said his voice was not the same for a long time afterward, and that "every time [he] swallowed, it felt like sandpaper." They tried for a second take, but Lennon had nothing left and it was abandoned. George Martin said, "I did try a second take ... but John's voice had gone." The Beatles' cover was released on 2 March 1964 in the U.S. as a single, with "There's a Place" as its B-side, by Vee-Jay Records on the Tollie label. It reached #2 on 4 April 1964, during the week that the top five places on the chart were all Beatles singles. (In the Cashbox singles chart for the same week, "Twist and Shout" was #1.) The Chief of the Air Staff while addressing the Airmen, congratulated the nation and the PAF personnel on the momentous occasion. "The formal induction of JF-17 aircraft in the PAF is in line with our resolve to face all challenges with poise and self- confidence. The PAF has invested in the force multipliers like the Air-to-Air refuellers, UAVs and AEW&C aircraft to enhance our capacity and capability to undertake complex operations," he said. "These new state-of-the-art inductions make it imperative that we train hard and prepare well to induct and integrate the new systems professionally and safely. The chievements of PAF leave no doubt in my mind that we are immensely capable and, as a team, can set and achieve still higher standards". "We are a peaceful nation with no aggressive designs and want to maintain peace with honour in our region. We are inducting new systems to keep pace with technology and maintain credible conventional balance of force, without which peace cannot be ensured in South Asia," the Air Chief said. He said that the JF-17 would be put through its paces in the forthcoming Exercise Hi-Mark 2010. The `JF-17 Thunder' has the capability to undertake entire spectrum of offensive as well as defensive missions. By joining the elite ranks of PAF, the JF-17 would not only enhance the combat readiness of PAF but also form its back-bone in future. The ceremony culminated when an A-5-III fighter led three JF-17 Thunder aircraft in a flypast following which a single JF-17 performed aerobatics over the venue. Chief of the Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani laid a floral wreath at the site of Yadgar Shuhada (monument of martyrs). Speaking on the occasion, General Kayani paid rich tributes to officers and jawans of Pakistan Army who embraced shahadat (martyrdom) in the continuing war on terror. He said that Youm-e-Shuhada will be commemorated on April 30 every year. [View \| Download]	Pakistan Army Contingent stood first in internationally recognized military exercise Exercise Cambrian Patrol is a prestigious British Army exercise which is organized annually in United Kingdom in Wales. Apart from teams from British Army, teams from military establishments all over the world are also invited to participate. It is a three days exercise in which the teams, comprising eight members, are required to infiltrate into simulated enemy lines and perform multiple tasks including obstacle crossing, close target reconnaissance and exfiltrate successfully in real time environments. For Year - 2010, a total of 86 teams participated in the exercise, including 70 British and 16 teams from other countries of the world including USA, Canada, Germany, France and India etc. Rawalpindi Corps team represented Pakistan Army in Exercise Cambrian Patrol - 2010, held from 11-13 October 2010 and by the Grace of Allah, the team showed an excellent performance by winning a Gold Medal in the event, which is a big honour not only for Army but for the country as a whole. Team returned to Pakistan yesterday. Commander Rawalpindi Corps and Inspector General Training and Evaluation (IGT&E) appreciated the efforts of the team during meeting held with team members. The "Team Manager" conveyed the feelings of all participating teams and Command echelons of United Kingdom Army, who appreciated the training standards of Pakistan Army and termed it capable of accomplishing its mission in the most trying circumstances. The competition consists of teams of 8 men carrying up to 55 kilos each across some of the most unforgiving terrain. There have been account of teams trudging through bog land up to their waist for 4 hours only to cover 1.5 km. It's a test of leadership, self discipline, courage and determination. The exercise usually starts with teams arriving at a Rendezvous before having their equipment checked to make sure they have everything required. Missing equipment will be replaced by dead weight and will mean points will be deducted. From there the team leader will be taken to orders while the rest of the team set up a quick hide, start their battle prep and prepare to receive orders i.e. prepare a model of the ground which will be covered during the patrol. Mukesh's voice was noticed by Motilal (a popular actor in Hindi films, also a distant relative of Mukesh) when he sang at his sister's wedding. Motilal took him to Bombay, let him stay with him and even arranged for singing lessons by pandit jagannath prasad for him. During this period, Mukesh managed to bag a role in a Hindi film, Nirdosh (Innocent) (1941). His first song was dil hi bujha hua ho to as an actor singer for Nirdosh. He got his break as a playback singer for Actor Motilal himself in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar'music by Anil Biswas & Lyrics by Aah Sitapuri' (First Look). The first song he sang for a Hindi film was Dil Jalta Hai to Jalne De (If the heart burns, let it burn), which was incidentally picturised on Motilal. Mukesh died of a heart attack on 27 August 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where he had gone for a concert. His body was carried back to India by Lata Mangeshkar, where a grand funeral ceremony took place as many famous actors, personalities of the Indian film industry, and fans paid tribute to the late singer. When the news of his death reached Raj Kapoor, he remarked, "I have lost my voice," which is a testimony to the timeless and unforgettable association of Mukesh's voice (in playback) to the immensely popular songs of Raj Kapoor's films. It was originally recorded by the Top Notes and then covered by The Isley Brothers. It was covered by The Beatles with John Lennon on the lead vocals and originally released on their first album Please Please Me. The recording session for that album was their first album session, and is notable for eleven songs having been recorded in a mere 10 hours (the remaining four songs had previously been released as singles and one song was not released). "Twist and Shout" was the last song recorded; producer George Martin knew John Lennon's voice would suffer from the performance, so he left it until last, with only 15 minutes of scheduled recording time remaining for the album. Lennon was suffering from a cold, and was drinking milk and sucking on cough drops to soothe his throat. His coughing is audible on the album, and the cold's effect on his voice is audible in this recording. Even so, he produced a memorable vocal performance, a raucous, dynamic rocker. He later said his voice was not the same for a long time afterward, and that "every time [he] swallowed, it felt like sandpaper." They tried for a second take, but Lennon had nothing left and it was abandoned. George Martin said, "I did try a second take ... but John's voice had gone." The Beatles' cover was released on 2 March 1964 in the U.S. as a single, with "There's a Place" as its B-side, by Vee-Jay Records on the Tollie label. It reached #2 on 4 April 1964, during the week that the top five places on the chart were all Beatles singles. (In the Cashbox singles chart for the same week, "Twist and Shout" was #1.) In the United States, "Twist and Shout" was the only million-selling Beatles single that was a cover record, and the only Beatles cover single to reach the Top 10 on a national record chart. In the UK, "Twist and Shout" was released on an EP with three other tracks, "Do You Want to Know a Secret", "A Taste of Honey", and "There's a Place", from the Please Please Me album. Both the EP and Album reached #1. In Canada, it became the title track to the second album of Beatles material to be issued by Capitol Records of Canada on February 3, 1964. It is regarded as one of the finest examples of British rock and roll for its vocal performance. The song was used as a rousing closing number on Sunday Night at the London Palladium in October 1963 and at The Royal Variety Show in November 1963, the former signalling the start of "Beatlemania". They performed it on their Ed Sullivan Show appearance in February 1964. The Beatles continued to play the song live until the end of their August 1965 tour of North America. Additionally, they recorded "Twist and Shout" on nine occasions for BBC television and radio broadcasts, the earliest of which was for the Talent Spot radio show on 27 November 1962. A ceremony for the formal induction of JF-17 Thunder aircraft was held at one of the PAF's operational bases. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was the chief guest on the occasion. The Chief of the Air Staff while addressing the Airmen, congratulated the nation and the PAF personnel on the momentous occasion. "The formal induction of JF-17 aircraft in the PAF is in line with our resolve to face all challenges with poise and self- confidence. The PAF has invested in the force multipliers like the Air-to-Air refuellers, UAVs and AEW&C aircraft to enhance our capacity and capability to undertake complex operations," he said. "These new state-of-the-art inductions make it imperative that we train hard and prepare well to induct and integrate the new systems professionally and safely. The chievements of PAF leave no doubt in my mind that we are immensely capable and, as a team, can set and achieve still higher standards". "We are a peaceful nation with no aggressive designs and want to maintain peace with honour in our region. We are inducting new systems to keep pace with technology and maintain credible conventional balance of force, without which peace cannot be ensured in South Asia," the Air Chief said. He said that the JF-17 would be put through its paces in the forthcoming Exercise Hi-Mark 2010. The `JF-17 Thunder' has the capability to undertake entire spectrum of offensive as well as defensive missions. By joining the elite ranks of PAF, the JF-17 would not only enhance the combat readiness of PAF but also form its back-bone in future. The ceremony culminated when an A-5-III fighter led three JF-17 Thunder aircraft in a flypast following which a single JF-17 performed aerobatics over the venue.
