Tribute to Mara 18 18th Street derives its name from it's original stomping grounds of 18th Street in the City of Los Angeles. 18th Street prurportedly started within the heart of Pico Union area of Los Angeles on the street called 18th street. Diesiocho, also known as 18th Street gang formed in the early Sixties in the Rampart area of Los Angeles as an original offshoot of the Clanton 14 Gang. In Los Angeles alone 18th Street has approximately 30 clikas or (Cliques). There is one leader or (shot caller) per 18th Street clique and each shot caller reports to the Mexican Mafia representative (El Mero) for the area. Many Law Enforcement Personnel consider 18th Street to be one of the most violent gangs in the world. With between 20 and 30 thousand members, 18th Street is the largest Gang in Los Angeles and is twice as big as the second largest gang and 18th street mortal enemy MS13. 18th Street is actively attempting to absorb Tagging Crews. They have already absorbed KWS (Kings with Style) thus creating an 18th Street clika called kdub or (Kay Dubs). The KWS/KCC crews ,however, are also still active as a separate tagging crew. KWS current expansion throughout the country has enabled 18th Stereet quicker and farther reach throughout the nation. This trend is thought to be growing.
